• How does face cleanser work?

  Our Lipid Complex is an Oil/Gel to Milk cleanser, meaning it acts as an oil cleanser on dry skin but once it comes in contact with water, it transforms into a luxurious milk cleanser. 

  Oil/Gel to milk cleansers the perfect formulation to effectively remove makeup, dirt, and impurities from the skin without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Instead, skin is left feeling comfortable - soft, supple and refreshed.   

  When you apply the cleanser as an oil to dry skin, the oil molecules in the cleanser attach themselves to the impurities on the skin’s surface, including sebum, makeup, and other impurities that can clog pores and cause breakouts. As the oil cleanser is massaged into the skin, it helps to break down and dissolve these impurities.

  Lipid Complex can be used as the first step in a double-cleansing routine, or on its own to remove makeup and cleanse the skin.

  The gentle yet effective nature of Oil/Gel to Milk cleansers means they are well-suited to all skin types and concerns. These formulas won’t strip the skin like soapy, foaming cleansers can, particularly those targeted towards acne-prone skin.

• How much face cleanser should I use?

  We recommend using 2-3 pumps of the Lipid Complex when you cleanse, for each step. For example, in your morning routine, use 2 -3 pumps of the cleanser directly onto wet skin. In your double cleanse evening routine, use 2 - 3 pumps of the cleanser onto dry skin for the first cleanse. Follow with 2-3 pumps onto wet skin for the second cleanse.

  Warm Lipid Complex in your hands for 5 seconds to activate. Then, using your finger tips, massage the cleanser gently into your skin using circular motions. Avoid applying too much pressure as this can irritate the skin.

• What are the benefits of Cannabis based Ingredients used in the Lipid Complex?

  The Lipid Complex contains our unique Hemp Seed Oil blend of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and protein – all of which benefit your skin. Whether your focus is anti-ageing, congestion, dryness, or an overall glow, no skin routine is complete without Hemp Seed Oil.

  Hemp seed has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties that can help to slow the effects of ageing, dullness, and dryness.

  Hemp Seed also helps moderate oil production in your skin. This ensures your skin remains supple without getting clogged. The combination of Omega-6 and Omega-3 helps promote the growth of new cells which helps calm skin irritation.  Hemp Seed Oil is able to soothe irritation while helping your skin retain moisture.

• Does this cleanser remove waterproof makeup?

  Yes. In user trials, participants agreed that our Lipid Complex gently removes makeup, with 100% of people saying it made their skin feel balanced and hydrated and effortlessly washed off with water.

  This cleanser blends the powerful makeup removing properties of an oil cleanser, with the skin replenishing qualities of a milk cleanser to thoroughly cleanse your face. We recommend completing a full double cleanse every night using the Lipid Complex cleanser.

• Is it fragrance-free, Vegan, Cruelty free and silicone free ?

  Yes, our Lipid Complex is free of any artificial fragrances. It is also free from silicones, paraben, TEA, triclosan, mineral oil, MEA/DEA, animal derivatives, heavy metals, propylene Glycol.

  The Lipid Complex is vegan, gluten free and not tested on animals.

• Where do I use it in my routine?

  Our Lipid Complex is the first step in your skincare routine - morning, and evening. It can be used as a first oil cleanser on dry skin and then again as a second active cleanser on wet skin in the evenings when you want to double cleanse.

  Follow with our Active Compound, Oil Infusion and or Moisturiser. 

• Is the Lipid Complex suitable for sensitive skin?

  Yes, our Lipid Complex has been dermatologically tested and certified with a 5-star skin rating. This means it’s been certified safe for all skin types including sensitive skin. It combines a blend of nourishing skin hydrators with a scientifically backed formulation that respects the pH of the skin. It is also formulated without irritants or allergens. However, if you have sensitive skin concerns, we always recommend patch testing first.

• Is the Lipid Complex safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

  Yes, it is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you have concerns, we also recommend you consult with your doctor or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list.

• Does the Lipid Complex with a refill option?

  This product does not come with a refill option yet; however, we are working on ways to make this possible in the future. In the meantime, we are pleased to advise that our Active Compound and Oil Infusion do have refill options available.

• Is the packaging recyclable?

  Yes, we offer a full packaging recycle program you can access here. We provide you with return labels to send your packaging back to us and we recycle your packaging through the TerraCycle program to ensure it is properly recycled. Alternatively, you can take any skincare packaging to any Mecca Store and they will place it in their TerraCycle recycling bins for you.

• How often should I use cleanser on my face?

  Our Lipid Complex is a tri-phase cleanser, this means it can be used in three different ways. 

  1 - As a cleanser on wet skin in the morning and evening (twice a day)

  2 - On dry skin in the evening as the first cleanse in a double cleansing routine (once a day)

  3 - As a weekly deep moisturising mask (leave it on for 20 minutes once a week)

• Do you wash face cleanser off?

  Yes. Face cleansers should be washed away with lukewarm water. The purpose of a face cleanser is to remove dirt, oil, and impurities that can lead to breakouts and irritation. If the cleanser is not properly removed it can do more harm than good, the impurities remain on your skin and so do the cleanser ingredients; which may cause irritation to skin and eyes. 

  While our Lipid Complex is designed to be used as a deep moisturising mask once a week, it still needs to be washed off after 20 minutes as a masking treatment.

• Do I use cleanser or face wash first?

  It depends on the method you use to cleanse your skin. There are three ways to cleanse your skin; a regular “wet” cleanse, a “dry” cleanse, or combining both for a double cleanse. 

  If you are double cleansing, you apply Lipid Complex first to dry skin without washing your face first. Then, you rinse the cleanser off and apply again to wet skin.

  We recommend double cleansing in the evening. This ensures every trace of makeup, sunscreen and other impurities that find their way to your face during the day are thoroughly removed before bed. 

  In the morning, a single step wet cleanse is sufficient as there won’t be layers of makeup, sunscreen and impurities to wash away in the morning.

• Can you use face cleanser on your body?

  
  We don’t recommend using Lipid Complex face cleanser on your body. Stick to a moisturising, sulphate free cleanser designed for the body.

• Can face cleanser cause acne?

  Depending on the formulation, some face cleansers can actually exacerbate acne and congestion. 

  If the face cleanser you use is highly alkaline and strips the skin of all moisture and oil, this causes the sebaceous glands to create more oil. This excess oil causes pores to become blocked, triggering more breakouts and congestion. 

  If you continue to use the same soap-based type cleansers, you'll be stuck in the oily-dry-oily loop. 

  You can tell if the cleanser you use is too drying if your face feels tight, extremely dry, and uncomfortable after cleansing.

  Our Lipid Complex is well-suited to oily, breakout prone skin as it respects the skin’s natural moisture / oil balance. While it gently removes excess oil, it doesn’t strip the skin of the important lipids (oils) it needs to function optimally.

• Are face cleansers necessary?

  Yes. A gentle, moisturise promoting cleanser is the foundation of a healthy skin routine. Removing dead cells, makeup, sunscreen, and pollution impurities from the skin is essential for keeping pores clear of build up and promoting a clear complexion.

• Are cleansers and face wash the same thing?

  The terms "cleanser" and "face wash" are sometimes used interchangeably, but there are differences between the two. 

  Face washes are formulated with surfactants that create a foaming action when mixed with water, and are intended to be rinsed off. Face washes are often recommended for acne-prone, oily skin types however, due to the “stripping” nature of some of these formulas, they can actually exacerbate excess oil and breakouts.

  Cleansers are usually an oil, balm, cream or gel texture and can be either rinsed or, in the case of oil cleansing, wiped off. Gentle and moisture promoting, cleansers are well-suited to dry, sensitive and acne prone skin types, as they are less likely to cause irritation or dryness.

• Is this face cleanser suitable for combination skin?

  Yes. Our Lipid Complex is suitable for all skin types, including combination skin. The cleanser is formulated to balance oil and water, which is ideal for combination skin types who experience dryness in the cheeks and excess oil in the t-zone.  

  Lipid Complex targets oily areas of the face to combat shine while hydrating ingredients boost moisture in dry areas. The result is beautifully balanced, comfortable feeling skin that is soft to touch without excess oil or dry, flaky patches.

• How long should I leave cleanser on my face?

  How long you should leave Our Lipid Complex on your face depends how you’re using it. 

  Regular cleanse or double cleanse: When using as a daily cleanser, you can leave the formula on for as long as it takes to massage around your face to cleanse your skin. Then, rinse off with lukewarm water before applying your skincare as normal. 

  Moisturising Leave on face mask: Lipid Complex is scientifically formulated to also be used as a moisturising deep treatment face mask. Once a week you can apply a thin layer of the Lipid Complex to your face and leave it for 20 minutes for a deep moisturising treatment. Then, rinse off with lukewarm water before applying your skincare as normal.

• Can I leave cleanser on my face overnight?

  No. Cleansers are not designed to be left on the skin overnight. Doing so can cause congestion, breakouts and irritate the skin and eyes.
